SIX Creekview teams—more than any other school in the nation—have advanced to the semifinal rounds of the Harlan Institute Virtual Supreme Court competition. This year’s case, currently pending before the actual U.S. Supreme Court, is Students for Fair Admissions v. University of North Carolina, which deals with whether universities may use race as a factor in admissions decisions. Students read through hundreds of pages of case materials to develop arguments and submitted both full legal briefs and recorded oral arguments. The top 12 teams from each side advanced to semifinals and virtual elimination rounds will continue over the course of the Spring until competitors are narrowed down to the top team on each side, which will compete in person at Georgetown University School of Law in May.
