Orchestra

The Creekview High School Orchestra is proud to be recognized as an accomplished orchestra program in the area. CHS Orchestra is a grade 09 and 12 campus in Carrollton, TX, a Dallas suburb. The orchestra program currently serves approximately 120 students in four orchestras. Since its inception, Creekview High School has been recognized as the Texas Honor Orchestra runner up, All State student members in the TMEA All State Orchestra, and has consecutively received sweepstakes since 2005. The program as a whole routinely earns sweepstakes awards with each ensemble at the annual UIL competition.

Freshmen Orchestra 1

Freshmen is one of the sub-non varsity orchestras at CHS. This class is only for incoming freshmen as they adjust to high school life and learn what it's like to be a part of the Creekview Orchestra program. This Orchestra will go to UIL concert and Sight-reading in the Spring. Students will have the ability at semester to audition into Philharmonic and Symphonic. If students decide not to audition, they will stay in the freshmen class. Students in this class will also have other opportunities to audition into All Region Orchestra, Solo and Ensemble and be a part of the pit orchestra for musical.

Camerata Orchestra 2,3,4

Camerata is another one of the sub-non varsity orchestras at CHS. This ensemble is appropriate for students that are advancing their skills in technique, tonality and musicianship and have already spent a year in high school. Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors are allowed to be in this class and don't need an audition. The Camerata Orchestra will play music from Grade 1-3 music through the school year.

Philharmonic Orchestra 1,2,3,4

Philharmonic is the non-varsity orchestra at CHS. Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors are able to be in this class by audition only. Freshman can be placed in this class at the spring semester after an audition in the freshmen class during the fall semester. Students will use this class as a stepping stone into the Symphonic class by fine tuning their skills to demonstrate a mature sounding ensemble. This ensemble goes to UIL contest as a stand alone ensemble and has the opportunity to audition for the All-Region Orchestra. The Philharmonic Orchestra will be playing music from Grade level 2-4.

Symphonic *Double Blocked Class*-1,2,3,4

Symphonic is the varsity orchestra at CHS. Membership is by audition only. Freshman can audition during the fall semester and be placed in this class during the spring semester. Students in this class participate in the Musical, All-Region and All-State competitions during the fall semester. This Orchestra will combine with the Creekview Wind Symphony in the spring semester to make a Full Orchestra and participate in UIL as one ensemble. Students in this orchestra will focus on playing high level repertoire at the highest caliber of playing.
